The 5th-8th grade had a blast on their field trip to Weiss Farm. They played in the corn mazes, learned about the basics of dairy farming, took a hay ride, and even saw a calf that was only minutes old. We were blessed with wonderful weather and great memories!

Today was our last day exploring the deserted island STEM activities. Today's challenge was to build a raft that would take Sir Harley Houndstooth III safely off the island. The students were tasked with building a raft that would float, had a sail, and could hold weight. The raft that could hold the most weight would be the winner!
On Friday, the 7/8th graders had the opportunity to attend the STEM Festival at Delta College. From liquid nitrogen ice cream to real breathing lungs, the students had a great day exploring many different STEM activities, experiments, and STEM job opportunities. Please enjoy some of the pictures from our day. Don't worry 5th and 6th graders, I'll take you in a couple years as well.
During our STEM period this week the students were tasked with building a catapult that would launch a cotton ball at least 12 inches. Each group was given 1 cotton ball, 1 spoon, and unlimited rubber bands and popsicle sticks. After a 30 minute building period, each group tested their design in competition. Even though Mrs. Hemme's catapult won the competition, the class still had fun exploring through trial and error.
